My “Summer CD” is a tradition I started in the summer of 2000. It was a compilation of great “Summer Songs” – you know, the type you’d listen to on a road trip across America, songs you can sing along to, songs that capture the heat of summer romance and laughter.

I lost my first couple years of Summer CD’s, but still have from 2003 on. They have since been converted to play lists on my IPOD, but I still call them Summer CD’s. I have fans of my CD’s too. Every year a few friends request copies for their cars, and their road trips.

I’ve been working on Summer CD ’07 for a few months now, but have struggled more with this one than any other. I like to have 3 or 4 songs from the year the list is made, but this year there’s been hardly anything that I’ve liked on the radio! (A sure sign I’m getting old). I won’t put songs on with questionable lyrics or ideas expressed. And it seems like all the music that is of “summery tempo” has a violent or irreverent message.

So this is the compilation of this year (and past years too):

2007May126Summer is here. The weather has been unusually warm (up to the 90′s!) and we’ve been taking full advantage! Last night we went fishing for the first time this summer. I can tell fishing this year is going to be much harder than last . . . Olivia is mobile and curious!

We put a swing in the tree in the front yard for Olivia. She thinks it’s so fun. She even get’s brave and let’s go of the rope sometimes, and then laughs at her amazingness.2007May144

Wyatt is playing softball again. Their team was put in the “wrong league” this year, so they aren’t winning very many games. Still, it’s fun to go to the park once a week and watch him play.

We’ve been working on our yard and the plants are starting to come in and look really good. The grass is also filling in. There seems to be hope yet!

It was an exciting day today. Mommy & I went to Silver Lake with Jaxon & Logan & Kellie, where we got to walk and run on the boardwalk around the lake. There was still some snow up there, so we were careful not to go off the trail. We looked for fish in the water, and had our picture taken in the beautiful mountains!

Then in the afternoon we went to our friends, Hadley & Devin & Morgen’s house. Hadley & Devin’s rabbit had bunnies a few weeks ago, and we went down to play with them. They were so cute! They were just the perfect size to hold and pet, but they did startle me every time they jumped2007May035.

After that we went to a couple garden nurseries with Grandma Christensen. Grandma Christensen is teaching us about how to grow a garden, and she showed us some of the best places to get plants, and what plants to get.

Then, to top everything off, that evening Jaxon and Logan came over to play with us again! We rode around in their brand new 2007May047Radio Flyer wagon–it’s the deluxe model, complete with bucket seats and drink holders. We went to the park behind the church and played over there for a while, and then came home and played at my house until really late . . . Daddy & John were watching the Jazz Basketball game, so it was a late night.

What a fun and exciting day. But I sure am tired now!

There has been so much going on in life these days that I need to write an update.

Last Saturday Wyatt and I got home from our week long Caribbean cruise. We went with Wyatt’s brother Wynn & his wife, Heidi. You can read more about it here, or just go to the scrapbook to see pictures.

While we were gone Olivia went to Arizona with Grandma Christensen, where she spent the week playing with Alea and Weston. By all accounts she had a great time, but when she came home she made it very clear she was mad at me for leaving. She wouldn’t let me hold her for the first day after she got home, preferring Grandma or Wyatt to me. But she’s since warmed up to me again. She got so excited when she saw the giraffe Wyatt brought home for baby Cal, and insisted Daddy ride her around on it for about twenty minutes.

The Tuesday before we left was Wyatt’s 30th birthday. But since we were so busy getting ready for the big trip, we didn’t do any amazing celebrating. I think I’ll throw him an embarrassing big birthday party sometime this summer! Wyatt got his first fly fishing pole and a stream pole, plus a book from Olivia.

The week before that my sister Leslee went into the MTC. It was exciting to see her off. She said she wasn’t nervous at all, but I was nervous for her! I know she’ll be a great missionary, and it’s fun to have my two sisters to write (and receive-HINT HINT) letters from.

Our Jeep was stolen over Easter weekend. We did get it back a few days later, but it was pretty beat up, so it then spent a little over two weeks in the shop. It was kind of a pain, but the insurance has done a good job of taking care of us. They rented us a brand new Silverado 4 door truck for the few weeks that the Jeep was gone. It was nice to ride around in a new car for a few weeks!!
