Nate-O had a walking field trip to see the sites of historic Draper. I was so excited to be a chaperone for the trip!
- We went to the Heritage Park where we learned about the great men and women who founded Draper.
- Then we walked passed the Sorensen home (my kids call it “the candy store” because, as a museum it’s run by volunteers and only open once or twice a week, but the kids don’t care a lick about that, they just want to go because they sell penny candy) and went over to the city cemetery where we found graves of those same men and women. It was so heart-touching to see their faith engraved on their tomb stones, a final and permanent testament to the way they lived their lives.
- Next we went over to the city building where we talked to the Mayor and a couple of city council members.
- And then we made our way to the Draper Library where we were able to talk about the fun things we can do there.
- Then we went to see the Day Barn and old pioneer cabin.
- And finally we walked back to the school on the trail.
