This morning we were being lazy, still in our jammies and dirty bums in the basement watching cartoons, when I heard foot steps upstairs. I came up to find Jena. She had brought towels and spray and was here to “clean my kitchen and babysit my kids.”
And that is always a good day when you have such a lovely person to talk to and hang out with – even if you do feel a little bad that she’s wiping down your cabinets, and you haven’t even done that in months 😀
She and I visited, and she cleaned and helped my kids with their breakfast (because we still hadn’t had breakfast). And I laid on my couch except when I had to get up to – well, you know.
And then she left, and I put the babies down for naps/quiet time, and I myself took a luxurious nap for two whole hours.
Later this evening I had an email for Andi. HURRAY. It’s her birthday, so I had sent her a happy b-day email. But I didn’t expect a response because – well, it’s her birthday. I figured she’d be out celebrating. But she sent me a note which made me happy and feel connected to the world again for a moment.
And now I am blogging, and kids are watching Sprout (are you as in love with Nina as I am? I feel so good having her “watch” my children). And in a few minutes they will go to bed, and I will settle in to a nice evening of watching Masterpiece Theater.
It’s a good thing to count one’s blessings in times of discouragement.
And I have had many today.
