Calvin received a letter in the mail: bring your parents, and come learn about kindergarten. My heart dropped a little as I read the lovely invitation, meant to inspire and excite. It certainly did that for Calvin. He was thrilled, first to have a letter addressed to him, second to be invited to something as important as a school meeting. But for me it felt like an invasion of . . . us . . . our family . . . our thing.
And of course, I’m so excited for him – for all that lays ahead of him in the big wonderful world. I know he will have adventures and I know he is ready. I just don’t think I am . . .
