Calvin’s birthday came with a big bang! He declared himself “King” for the entire week. And we were so happy to oblige.
Calvin asked to go to the cabin for his big day, so on Monday evening we headed up. This made it so we could wake up at the cabin and spend most of the day there.
First thing we did in the morning was open presents. I think he was pretty happy with his ‘Game of Life’ -which he had been requesting for about six weeks since he first played it at his friend, Fischer’s house. We also got him a cash register, toy money, and the book ‘Now We Are Six.’
We spent Cal’s family birthday time catching frogs, going to the swimming hole, and just generally having a good time.
That evening we went home for the neighbor birthday party with ice cream and cake, a tradition for Calvin’s birthday.
On Wednesday we had Cal’s friend birthday party. He invited all his little buddies to a party at the church. It was a good time for a gaggle of little boys!
While this was the close of the official celebrations, we spent the week revering Cal and all he means to our family. Indeed, he was “King.”
