Gasp and Sigh.
Today we were talking about our thoughts in Relief Society – and the comment I made was something like this:
One thing I need to do is slow down! I am so busy, and I need to slow down just so I can meditate and think about the important things in life instead of the meaningless chatter that is usually going on in my brain . . . but I don’t have time right now, or for the next two weeks. But after that . . .
June has been CRAZY LADY busy. But oh so fun too. I wish I had time to blog more – and I mean good blogging with proof-read stories (ok, I NEVER proof read. But I’m sure you’ve never noticed.) And illustrating photographs that have been edited to look lovely instead of uploaded straight out of the camera.
But I don’t have time for that. So even though I promised myself that May would be the last month of recap, and this summer I would be so good at keeping up – well, I’ve failed (But don’t you worry, I fail at so many things in my life, the sting from it is almost gone. 😉 Sigh)
So here is the June recap – with and without pictures. This is not in chronological order because . . . well, because.
We went to Home Depot Saturday, where the kids got to make their own little boxes for their treasures. My kids love treasure boxes, so it was great for them.
We started the month of with swimming lessons and a pass to the pool. Every day we swam in the sun. Babies were happy, mamma was filled with the endorphins of vitamin D and H20. We will sing in the sunshine!
A few days into the month Olivia graduated from kindergarten (sniff). She had such a great year. I hope she always enjoys school so much.
Wade and Katie came to town from West Virginia. It was so much fun to have them here to play with. They went swimming with us, and even went to the Children’s museum one day (my kids LOVE the children’s museum, but we don’t usually go very often. This time I bought a pass so we’ll have to hit it a bunch this summer!)
One day we went to the Chalk Art Festival down at the Gateway. It was a lot of fun, and the kids really enjoyed themselves. It was like a little fair, with games and prizes and treats, and we even got snow cones. It was a fun afternoon.
The kids also started baseball. Olivia is in coach pitch, and Cal is in t-ball, but had I known how it worked, I would have had them be on the same coach pitch team. Anyway, Olivia is on “the Orange Crush,” and Cal is on “the Blues.” We have fun each Monday and Wednesday evenings sitting at the park watching their games.
Every Tuesday we have “Arts in the Park” where the kids get to make some fun art project and then they get to play with all the kids in the neighborhood like a crazy weekly party!
One day we drove to Logan to visit with Jacob and Melinda and have a barbeque. Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures. But Olivia was in heaven playing with Dessie, and Everett had a lot of fun playing with Andrew (Melinda’s Andrew), and we had a lot of fun hanging out with everyone and having a barbeque.
We went camping with the Christensen’s. I had fun.
We had a treat night in our back yard one Sunday evening with friends from the neighborhood. It was fun to just sit on the lawn and chat the evening away.
Alea and Weston are in town (can life be any more exciting?!) So we’ve had a great time playing with them, both at Grandma’s house and at ours. They even went to our pool with us on Saturday, and afterwards we went out to see “Brave” – a really cute movie. It was so fun.
We had a back yard barbeque with the Engh’s. Yummy food, good friends. Good times.
Of course there were all the little activities too – afternoons at the splash park, days spent running errands, a few afternoons in Oakley catching frogs and just generally having a good time.
It was a fun month and a great kick off to Summer.
