If you were to come over right now, to walk through my house (if I would let you past my front door) – you would see a mess – everywhere. Not a room in my house is free from something you have to step over, move to sit down, or ignore as it crunches beneath your feet. My house is a disaster.
I just went down to tuck in the boys. I picked up a laundry basket – and the garbage can that I knocked over when doing so – just so I could get into their room. “Tomorrow we’re going to have to clean this room” I told them, as I picked my way across the floor to give them kisses.
Calvin was skeptical.
When I came upstairs I contemplated my failures. But then I remembered, today:
- I got Olivia off to school on time, with her favorite lunch packed.
- I later delivered her forgotten hat to the school for “crazy hat day”
- I ran preschool carpool – both coming and going.
- I helped Wyatt design a postcard for his campaign.
- I made edits, revisions and updates through out the day to said postcard until everyone on the committee agreed to it’s awesomeness. I then sent it to the printers.
- I did five loads of laundry – washed, dried AND put away. Probably a world record.
- I babysat a neighbor girl for a few hours
- I made three meals for my family
- I went grocery shopping
- I made & delivered Olivia’s birthday party invitations for later this week.
- I did a load of dishes
- I scrubbed the bathroom spotless (at least for one moment in time).
- I did clean my bedroom – at one point today it was pretty clean.
- I helped Annie with a problem on her website.
- I re-ordered 3 books for a neighbor who missed out on an RS activity I was in charge of a few weeks ago.
- I had a mini-planning meeting with the RS coordinator about our upcoming Christmas social. (Speaking of which, Leslee, can I borrow your horse?)
- I talked to my mom.
- We had family home evening
- I made hot chocolate and brownies for desert.
Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed by my never-ending list of to-dos – especially when after such long days I look around and it seems as if nothing has been done. But then I remember that I am working at it, and I can’t let life or self-inflicted expectations get me down. This work is awesome.
Don’t believe me? Do you believe a prophet?
See – told you – awesome!
