Wednesday was (kinda) Everett’s first day of preschool. It was more of an open-house where you came, parents stayed, and you left when ever you decided you were done. It was more to get to know other kids, get used to the environment, and for parents to get a chance to meet and talk with one another.
Everett was SOOOOOOO excited. He was just beaming with the thrill of being a big kid and going to school.
Before we went I had a talk with Everett about how the other kids would probably feel a little shy, and maybe even a little scared, but he could be so nice to them by telling them his name and inviting them to play with him.
You have to understand, Everett is my most shy, socially anxious child. He generally shuts down in big, unknown situations. And getting to know new people, even kids, can be pretty hard for him.
So I was SOOOOOO proud and excited when he introduced himself to several kids, and even a couple of the parents. I know that was a really big thing for him, and I was so excited to see him do it. He was still very nervous, and spoke very softly to people, BUT he did it, and it made my heart melt into all sorts of gooey sludge to see him do something so very brave!
He is so excited to be a preschooler!
LOVE the picture with the sunglasses! Such a cute kid!
