Miss Olivia Gets Baptised

On Saturday, November 2nd, Olivia was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the Greenfield Chapel.

We were blessed to have so many people come and support our little girl. Several came hundreds of miles! Thank you to those who came:

Olivia was particularly excited to invite her second grade teachers, Mrs. Campo and Ms. Hatch. She knew Ms. Hatch was a member, but wasn’t sure about Mrs. Campo. She thought (on her very own, with no urging or suggesting by her parents, I might add) that it would be a good chance for her to share the gospel. I was proud of my missionary daughter in her efforts to be a good example and share the things that are precious to her. And we did overhear Mrs. Campo asking sincere questions about the church to Ms. Hatch during the baptism.

Grandma Brock also made Olivia a beautiful baptism dress that looked lovely. Olivia was actually baptized in the dress. Wyatt was able to push it down when it wanted to float up, and the girl only had to be dunked once 😀 We talked about having it be the family baptism dress. We’ll see when her little girl cousins get older if they want to use it. In the mean time we will hold on to this beautiful white dress.

Auntie Karen led the music to Olivia’s favorite songs: “When I am Baptized” and “We Thank Thee O God For a Prophet.”

Auntie Leslee gave a talk on Baptism, and Aunt Melinda gave a talk on the Holy Ghost. Ben, Olivia’s piano teacher, played a beautiful musical number, and the Grandmothers gave the prayers.

Nicole Ferguson was a huge help to me. I asked her months ago to make some pretty, but simple flower arrangements for the tables. She did, and they were beautiful! But then yesterday I also asked her to be my “kitchen” person who ran in and set everything up. She did that too. It was so kind and VERY helpful of her. I also asked Trudy Nydeggar to make some of her famous cupcakes for the occasion. She made red velvet with a white chocolate frosting, chocolate mint with a candy cane on top, s’mores, and pumpkin spice with candied pumpkin seeds on top. YUMMY!

I made a little guestbook on “Mixbook” for Olivia’s friends to sign. That turned out well, and it will be good to keep all these loves together in one book.

We had sub sandwiches and chips and salad with pink lemonade for the luncheon, and the cupcakes for desert. Everything went off without a hitch!

It was a lovely baptism, and I’m so thrilled with Olivia’s good choices. She has such a sweet heart, and is starting to come into her own personality. I love seeing who she is becoming.
