More on the Garden

We had friends over for an evening barbeque the other night, and the one friend looked at our first garden and said “it won’t always be this easy!”

Well, it might not, but in the mean time I’m really enjoying our garden this year.

When we came home from the beach I was shocked to see how much it had grown over the ten days!

These red sunflowers are volunteers from last year. This one is particular is so dark it’s almost brown/black. Kinda cool.

This picture was taken above my head and backwards. But I like what happened to it (the iphone apparently oversaturated and oversharpened it. Kinda gives it a surreal look.)

This is what the “normal” red sunflowers look like – red in the center out to yellow.

Our first ripe tomato! A little small, but we’ll take it!

The hollyhocks bloomed. I didn’t think they would since it seems like everyone else’s bloomed ages ago. These are new from a neighbor. I love the papery white blooms!

The front flower bed is finally starting to look pretty good. It was really sad for a long time.
