This morning – on the last day of school, three school years after we very first started – we finished reading the Book of Mormon!
(Don’t do the math on just how slow that makes us).
It has been a great experience for our family. Especially these past six months or so. Wyatt and I have been much more consistent in our efforts, and I feel like we finally figured out what works for us, and how to meet the various needs of our family.
I feel like while many moments of our reading were buzzing with the noise of children rustling and energy being held at bay, there were also sweet moments when we knew the children were really listening and taking the scriptures to heart.
After we finished reading (Calvin requested days ago to read the final verse) it was Olivia’s turn to say the morning prayer. In her sweet prayer she thanked Heavenly Father that we could read and finish the Book of Mormon. She asked that we (each of us) would know that it was true, and that we would be able to relate to it in hard times of life, and that we would think about it during the day.
(And that they would have a FUN last day of school 😉 )
I’m really proud of our little family!
Plan now is to read the major stories of the New Testament over the summer, and start the Book of Mormon anew in the fall.
